"Star Trek" fanatics are eagerly awaiting the third installment to the rebooted franchise, titled "Star Trek Beyond." Information about the film have been sparse, but cast member Idris Elba may have revealed a small scene detail which involves an iconic character.
The 42 year old is a new addition to the "Star Trek" family, which includes the returning core cast Chris Pine (who will play Kirk), Karl Urban (Bones), Anton Yelchin (Chekov), John Cho (Zulu), and Simon Pegg (Scotty). Zachary Quinto will reprise his role as Spock, including Zoe Saldana as Uhura.
Elba will be playing a villain in "Star Trek Beyond" and seemed excited to have joined the project. The actor recently revealed to British newspaper Metro that he was an avid "Star Trek" fan: "Almost everyone was a Trekkie, really, weren't they? I wouldn't say I was a hardcore one but I definitely watched that show a million times," reported TV3.
The "Thor" actor also shared a scene detail with an iconic "Star Trek" character. "Spock was probably my favorite character - and in this one I have some scenes with Zachary Quinto [who plays Spock]."
Although, this doesn't reveals much about Elba's "Star Trek Beyond" character or details of the film, but it still a detail worth getting excited about. Seeing Elba and Quinto going head-to-head on screen would be "cool", states Cinema Blend.
Director Justin Lin only confirmed the title "Star Trek Beyond" late June, when Lin uploaded an image of a Starfleet badge on Twitter, writing: "Let the next Starfleet voyage begin! #StarTrekBeyond #LLAP." The movie's storyline will reportedly follow the Enterprise crew on a five-year mission and that it will be "less Star Trek-y", reports Slash Film. Aside from that, no other details have been shared.
"Star Trek Beyond" is slated to hit movie theaters on July 8, 2016.
