‘Spider Man’ Reboot: Marisa Tomei gets a Major Role in Movie

Marisa Tomei will play the role of Aunt May for the "Spider Man" Reboot, as mentioned in the article from Variety.

Although Sony and Marvel did not say a word regarding the casting, insiders from Variety said that an offer was made late last week to join Tom Holland and the director John Watts but they could not say what agreement has made during the deal-making process. Slashfilm added that the deal isn't close to set at this point

At the age of 50, Marisa Tomei is the youngest actress to play the character which was previously played by Rosemary Harris and Sally Field, as mentioned by Slashfilm.

In addition, Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is making Peter as a high school student, as reported by Cinemablend. Therefore, it is not surprising that Aunt May is younger than her counterpart in comics. In the story, Cinemablend shared that May Parker raised Peter after his parents died together with her husband Ben.

There are conflicting reports as to her first apprearance. Aunt May may appear as a cameo in the upcoming movie of Marvel, "Captain America: Civil War," as published in The Hollywood Reporter. Also, Tom Holland will appear as a cameo in the movie. Contrary to what The Hollywood Reporter published, the actress will not appear in "Captain America: Civil War" but Tom Holland will appear, as mentioned in the article from Variety.

Right now, John Watts is looking for a writer to join him in the screenwriting process and also actors who would appear in multiple films before shooting the "Spider Man" next year, as added in the article from Variety.

Marisa Tomei is known for her role in "What Women Want," "Anger Management", "The Wrestler", and "Love Is Strange." She won her Oscar award in the film, "My Cousin Vinny." She will appear in the movie "Trainwreck" with Amy Schumer and the upcoming movie "The Big Short" together with Brad Pitt and Christian Bale.

"Spider Man" reboot is expected to be in theaters on July 28, 2017.
