'Spider-Man' Reboot: Find Out How Tom Holland Prepares For His Role as Peter Parker

The new Peter Pan is hitting the gym! It seems that Tom Holland is already prepping for his role as Spider-Man. On Tuesday, July 7, the British actor uploaded a selfie in Instagram showing Holland wearing workout clothes and a pair of sunglasses. Holland captioned the image: "New glasses and it's time for the gym!!!"

The new Peter Parker is reportedly trying to get in shape and working out to sculpt his body into a superhero type physique. Comic Book even mentioned keeping the Instagram picture as a "before" photo, which will be used to check Holland's muscular and physical progression.

Earlier this month, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed that Holland's screen test with Robert Downey Jr. was one of the factors that ultimately led them to choose the actor for the role. In an interview with Collider, when asked about the chemistry between Holland and Downey Jr., Feige responded: "That was part of it. When we'll see that, I don't know, but that was part of it." Holland reportedly had a separate screen test with "Captain America" actor Chris Evans.

The 19 year old star joins the list of actors who previously played the web slinging Marvel superhero. The Spider-Man trilogy which ran from 2002 until 2007, was directed by Sam Raimi and starred Tobey Maguire. The last actor who played Peter Parker was Andrew Garfield, who starred in two Spider-Man reboots: the "Amazing Spider-Man" and "The Amazing Spider-Man 2."

Tom Holland is best known for his titular role as Billy Eliot that played on London's West End stage between 2008 and 2010. Holland will reportedly be making a cameo in the forthcoming "Captain America: Civil War" movie with Chris Evans. The movie is set for a May 6, 2016 release. Meanwhile, the Spider-Man reboot, to be directed by Jon Watts, will hit theaters on July 28, 2017.
