New Zealand is Underfire for Purchasing an $8-million Worth Turtle Bay Residence

To set the record straight, once and for all, British Monarch, Queen Elizabeth, is not taking up residence in New York City.  That puts an end to the rumor that the Queen is having residence in the NYC while the palace undergoes renovation.  However, it is no rumor that the government of New Zealand did purchase the 18th floor posh apartment at the 50 United Nations Plaza.  The $8-million Turtle Bay residence  is intended as a living and working space for its top diplomat in the Big Apple and the government of New Zealand is under fire for making that expense.

In a post made on 6/25/15 by The Real Deal, it was the 89-year old queen who bought the lavish $8-million, 3-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom apartment to make New York city feel like an extension of the Buckingham Palace.

Well, it's not anywhere like Buckingham Palace and it was the government of New Zealand who purchased it.  The building in the Turtle Bay was designed by Norman Foster who gave it a sleek and modern design in a luxurious and safe building in the vicinity of the U.N.  Another fact is that the Buckingham Palace is in need of serious renovation but this still doesn't yet mean that Queen Elizabeth will be staying in New York City specifically but has been planning to go somewhere beyond the Windsor Castle near Londor, or Sandringham House in Norfolk, England.

Aside from its secure location and modern design the unit showcases a 50-foot dining room and grand foyer that is fit for large scale formal or royal functions.  Moreover the unit has a private entry a private motor court and a private garden.  Sounds interesting enough to appeal to the queen's attention.  Not only that, it is no rumor that she has knighted the apartment's architect back in the year 1990.
