BBC Releases a Special Photo for 'Sherlock'

On July 9, BBC One released a special photo of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson for the Christmas episode of "Sherlock" in their official account in Twitter and Facebook. The caption said, "Shut up everybody, shut up! Don't move, don't speak, don't breathe. A new #Sherlock Special image has landed..."

Fans are excited about the Christmas special. One Facebook user said, "BBC (and Moffat and Gatiss), WHY ARE YOU SO CRUEL? We cannot wait any more! At least, give us some info and dates of airing!" On the other hand, one Twitter user tweeted, "only????????????? I was literally waiting for a trailer."

Until now, BBC still has not released a date about the "special episode" but it's more likely to be broadcast in the UK in December, as reported from Mashable.

Last March, Steven Moffat, creator of "Sherlock", confirmed that the one "special" episode will be set in the 19th century, as reported from Entertainment Weekly.

He said, "The special is its own thing. We wouldn't have done the story we're doing, and the way we're doing it, if we didn't have this special. It's not part of the run of three episodes. So we had this to do it - as we could hardly conceal - it's Victorian. [Co-creator Mark Gatiss] and me, we wanted to do this, but it had to be a special, it had to be separate entity on its own. It's kind of in its own little bubble."

In addition, Steven Moffat admitted during the Comic-con that they set the show in the wrong time period and they are correcting it, as reported from BBC.

"It's like we checked the books and discovered we'd set it in the wrong time period by mistake and it's like we're correcting it. We're really proud of it. We think it's a real cracker. But that'll be it until series four," he mentioned.

In the meantime, Youtube user Masterpiece PBS released a video of Benedict Cumberbatch, Mark Gatiss and Andrew Scott greeting and apologizing to the fans at San Diego Comic-Con 2015. Also, Youtube user PBS released a first look at the special "Sherlock" special.
