'Transformers’ Update: New Animated Series To Be Produced by Hasbro and Machinima

A new digital animated series of "Transformers" will be produced by Hasbro and Machinima this year. The said "Transformers" animated series will reportedly be based on Hasbro's "Transformers: Combiner Wars" storyline, a report from Techtimes said on Thursday.

Techtimes pointed out that the "Transformers: Combiner Wars" storyline is the same story that was featured in both action figures and comic books, including Activision's upcoming video game "Transformers: Devastation." The soon-to-be-produced "Transformers" animated series will feature two new robot characters, Superior and Menasor, along with others that avid fans have been following for years. The new "Transformers" animated series will reportedly combine action and humor as it aims to capture teens and adults as its primary target market.

In Machinima's press release via Business Wire, the company claims that the new animated series will introduce a "unique storytelling opportunity," which will be enjoyed by avid fans of "Transformers" comics, movies, toys and video games.

"We couldn't be more excited to bring one of the biggest franchises in the world to Machinima. Our audiences are huge fans of the comics, movies, toys and video games, and for us to continue the legend with the 'Combiner Wars' is a unique storytelling opportunity," said Machinima's Chief Creative Officer Daniel Tibbets.

A related report from Tubefilter said that the new "Transformers" animated series was announced in the San Diego Comic-Con event. For its part, Hasbros described the company's partnership with Machinima as "perfect" in its bid to globally produce and distribute the new animated series in a digital platform.

"We're thrilled to be teaming up with Machinima on this ground breaking, new digital series. As one of the top global producers and distributors of digital entertainment, they're the perfect partner to help launch a totally new kind of Transformers animation-one that, for the first time ever, is specifically designed for the teen and adult fans who've grown up loving the Transformers brand," said Tom Warner, Senior Vice President for the "Transformers" franchise for Hasbro as quoted by the same website.
