Tim Kring came back to Comic-Con in San Diego, California which is the very place he launched the show "Heroes" nine years ago. He was back in Hall H to reveal the reboot of the show with an extended trailer for the upcoming "Heroes Reborn."
According to Variety, Kring asked the audience to give the show a chance and asked the "Heroes" fans for their support for the new show. The panel interviews were moderated by Greg Grunberg along with his cast members Masi Oka and Jimmy Jean-Louis, who are all returning to the new series.
According to Kring, the last show left Claire Bennett (Hayden Panettiere) exposing their powers to the world. The fact that people came to know that creatures like her exist was reportedly not a good thing for the gifted individuals.
The three-minute extended trailer, which was the main highlight of the event, focused heavily on the persecution of the gifted individuals which were called "enhanced humans." The Verge pointed out that there are a lot of new faces in the show but there are also some fan-favorite characters present like Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka), who showed some of his sword skills in the trailer. Showrunners also revealed that the series' episodes were shot in different locations like Canada, Iceland, Los Angeles, Paris and Tokyo.
The extended trailer also features some of the new stars of the show like Danika Yarosh, who plays Malina, a ghostly character that was raised in isolation for the majority of her life. From the trailer, it reportedly looks like she was in the arctic and attempts to stop the spread of a black hole.
Overall, Kring claims that the show could take a darker direction. He said that the way that "Heroes" ended gave them the opportunity to create the best pilot for "Heroes Reborn." He also revealed that by the 13th episode, fans are going to have answers about the fate of some of the characters in the first show.
"Heroes Reborn" will air on NBC on September 24.
