'Orange Is The New Black' Season 4 Release Date & Spoilers: Director Andrew McCarthy Teases Upcoming Installment

"Orange is the New Black" director Andrew McCarthy recently talked about the upcoming fourth installment of the hit Netflix series. In an interview with Deadline, McCarthy admitted that most of his time lately has been dedicated to filming "Orange is the New Black."

"I love all my children equally, but my head is totally in the 'Orange is the New Black' world now. The blend of drama and comedy - they sneak up on you when you least expect it. It just sort of blends those two and you just have to ride that wave back and forth," he said.

Meanwhile, McCarthy also talked about his favorite episode from the series, which centered on Gloria (Selenis Leyva) back in Season 2.

"It's like you think you know somebody, then you have these crazy flashbacks and think, 'Oh wow.' It's a bit like knowing someone, then suddenly they sit down and play piano and they play beautifully and you're like, 'Oh my God, there's a whole other facet of this person I've never considered.' That's one of the wonderful things about the show," he explained.

Netflix recently released the entire Season 3 of "Orange is the New Black" and it received a slew of mixed reactions from fans. Compared to Seasons 1 and 2, the third installment focused more on the character's faith and not so much on their personal issues and relationships with the other inmates.

However, come Season 4, "Orange is the New Black" will reportedly revert back to its old format. With this, the series guarantees the same amount of drama and twists as featured in the first two installments, according to Vox.

"I think we'll look back on season three as a kind of perfect breather between the frantic first two seasons and what looks to be a harder turn in the seasons to come," Todd VanderWerff said.

"Orange is the New Black" Season 4 will premiere on Netflix next year.
