Amazon Prime Day - What It Means to Online Retail

On the official website of Amazon, July 15 will be the "Prime Day," a one-day shopping event with more deals than Black Friday. In an article from Yahoo! Finance, Amazon Prime Day marks the 20th year anniversary of the company launching its website.

The article added that beginning of the midnight on Wednesday, customers will be able to browse products that are on sale such as electronics, toys, video games, movies, clothing, patio, lawn and garden, and sports and outdoor items. However, Prime members are the only one who can avail the Prime Day.

In a report from Business Insider, aside from availing the Prime Day, Prime members can have free two-day shipping on items, unlimited photo storage, instant streaming of movies and TV shows, and instant access to Kindle books and music.

In the same article from Yahoo! Finance, Amazon offers one free month trial of Amazon Prime for those who wants to be a member. All the benefits of a Prime member are available and once the free trial is done, free trial members will pay $99 per year to become Prime member.

Another offer of Amazon is the free trial that costs $50 per year for students or someone who has a working student e-mail. Student trial is not allowed to use Prime Instant Video, Prime Music, or the Kindle Owners' Lending Library but will have six months of free two-day shipping with Amazon Prime, unlimited photo storage in the Amazon Cloud, and early access to certain Lightning Deals. Student Prime members can notify Amazon about their graduation day and begin paying for Amazon Prime or run a four year course before paying full price for Prime

In an article from Inquistr, there are two contests that the company is holding. One of these is #PrimeLiving Photo Contest wherein users will share a photo showing their happiest moment. This is until July 15 and the winner could win a $10,000 Amazon gift card and set their photo as a screen saver for Amazon TV.

Another contest is participants will play a song, album or station in the Prime Music on July 15 to win $25,000 in Amazon gift cards. The article added that it is the way to promote Prime Music.
