Johnny Depp dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow flew via a helicopter and surprised patients at Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in Brisbane, Queensland last Tuesday, seventh of July 2015. According to Daily Mail, the actor took time off while being in the shooting at the Gold Coast beach set of the latest installment of the hit Disney Franchise film "The Pirates of the Carribean."
The hospital has a weekly kid show which runs 30 minutes, and features interviews with celebrities who visit and this time, the Leukemia patient Ula Pryce-Davis interviewed Depp and he playfully answered her questions.
Ula Pryce-Davies told 9News that, "I just couldn't believe it, couldn't believe it, just no way. No way in my wildest dreams." She also said, "He was just very lovely, and open, and just so awesome and amazing. I think that Captain Jack Sparrow has a lot of traits of Johnny Depp in him."
The 52-year-old Depp surprised many young patients, even joined in selfies, chatted and hugged them. Depp totally gave out great smiles to these youngsters and patients.
Depp stayed for three hours in the hospital and said "Thank you so much for having me, thank you for asking me questions, and threatening me, and trying to make me sing."
This was actually not the first time Depp has done something for patients; he was actually been involved in many good works and charities. According to Daily Mail published last Jan 28, 2008, he donated £1 million for a hospital to thanked staff for saving his daughter, and published last Jan 28, 2015 by Daily Mail wherein he also did a concert to help raise funds for a charity.
Depp rose to Hollywood playing the role as Patrolman/Officer Tom Hanson in the 1980s TV series "21 Jump Street." Aside from this, Depp is also known to play various odd and fantasy characters like Edward Scissorhands in "Edward Scissorhands," Willy Wonka in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," Tarrant Hightop (The Mad Hatter) in "Alice in Wonderland." He also starred in many films like "Chocolat," "Ed Wood," "The Astronaut's Wife," "Blow," and many more.
The Walt Disney franchise "The Pirates of the Caribbean" which earned US$ 3.7 billion worldwide was actually based from a famous attraction in Disneyland. Currently Depp is filming for "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" and set to be released on July 17, 2017.
