Lea Michele dated her 'Glee' co-actor Cory Monteith and when news about his sudden death broke out two years ago from alleged heroin and alcohol overdose, she was one of the firsts who immediately rushed to Vancouver where Cory's body was found dead in his hotel room, pagesix.com reports.
The actress was not discreet about her difficulty dealing with the loss. During a guesting at the Ellen DeGeneres Show back in December 2013, Michele explained why she finds it hard to adjust: "It's pretty intense and then if you smile it's like, 'She's so happy!' and then if you're, you know, if you look sad they're like, 'She's terrible.' It's like, you know, it's just, it's really hard. There's so many different emotions," according to Inquisitr.
And since the devastating loss, the actress has since made sure to commemorate Cory's life during special dates like his birthday and death anniversary.
Lea posted a photo with a touching caption of Cory while at the beach during sunset for his first death anniversary:
"We hold you in our hearts today, and every day we remember your smile. We will love you and miss you always."
For his 33rd birthday, the 'Glee' actress took to Twitter to greet his beloved by posting a photo of him playing a drum set in what looks like a set from the musical TV show...
"I know you're serenading everyone right now.. We love you Cory! Happy Birthday.."
Months after Monteith's death, Lea has found new love with life guru Matthew Paetz who she met at the set of her music video. This new love has sure helped Michele rebuild her life and she have expressed her joy for having Matthew in her life.
"Matthew, thank you for bringing such happiness into my life," the 28-year-old wrote in May. "For making me smile again and bringing such a bright joy into my every day."
And this year, for Cory's second death anniversary, Michele, despite being in this happy relationship now, has not forgotten to express her love and longing for the actor as she posted a photo of Monteith driving a car with the sun bursting across and illuminating his face:
"I know you would want us all laughing and smiling today... So we think of you and remember all the laughter and joy we shared together. I hold you in my heart always and love and miss you so..." she posted on Instagram.
She posted the same photo on Twitter but with a different but equally heartfelt caption: "Today we remember the laughter and joy you brought into our lives every day. We think of you always and love you so."
