In an article from Vulture, "Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" was forced to cancel a taping due to the hand injury. The details were never explained but when the comedian returned on Monday night, he shared all the details.
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon posted a video in Youtube explaining what happened to him.
In the video, Jimmy Fallon started with, "What a crazy break we had - a two week break."
He continued, "So basically what happened is, I tripped and fell in my kitchen on a braided rug that my wife loves and I can't wait to burn it to the ground. I tripped and fell and I caught my fall... I'm getting up and my finger is sideways. So I go, 'Oh my god, did I just break my finger?' This is the lamest thing in the whole wide world. It completely looks fake. It looks like a cheap horror movie where you see a broken finger."
In the recent article from US Magazine, Jimmy Fallon explained that he went to emergency room at one hospital before being advised that he need to see a specialist because he had ring avulsion. He added in the video, "Basically what it is that my ring got caught on the countertop when I was going down and stuck there and pulled my finger off." He also advised not to Google ring avulsion.
In an article from The Wrap, Jimmy Fallon went to Bellevue where he met Dr. Chui wearing a bow tie and cowboy boots. He added, "Apparently, the odds aren't great and usually they cut your finger off, but this guy did microsurgery for over six hours and had to take a vein out my foot."
He added, "He did it and he saved my finger. I won't get feeling back for eight weeks ... and I was in the ICU for 10 days." He also thanked the nurses and doctors who took care of him.
The host also realized that his purpose in life is to make suffering people laugh. He concluded, "I must say, the fall was funny. I am a comedian so I have to fall funny. If it was me, watching me I would laugh."
