A recent report disclosed on Wednesday that South Korean electronic giant Samsung will likely announce its new flagship devices, the Galaxy Note 5 and Samsung S6 Edge Plus, on August 21, and they will reportedly be on sale two weeks after the announcement. If the August launch date of the devices is true, it would be a departure from the traditional period that Samsung unveils its new models, which is usually during the IFA event, Sam Mobile reported.
As Sam Mobile noted in its exclusive report, the company will soon launch the two devices simultaneously. It pointed out that Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will be launched with its official name, Galaxy S6 Edge+, together with Samsung Galaxy Note 5 on the same date. The info is reportedly from a leak from Korean press. The report also hinted that Samsung will launch its Samsung Pay intended for the U.S. market.
Samsung Galaxy Note 5 was reported to feature a 5.7-inch screen and 4 GB of random access memory. Early speculations revealed that the device will be powered with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808 and a Samsung Exynos processor. According to the aforementioned website, Note 5 will have a thinner bezel and will remove the micro SD card slot.
A related report from Android Authority added that "Project Noble," another code name for Samsung Galaxy Note 5, will be the first device to use the Samsung Exynos 7422 chipset with a 64-bit octa-core CPU, GPU, and faster random access memory. The device will also reportedly have higher storage capacity and Bluetooth and LTE modem communication features.
Business Insider, meanwhile, reported that Galaxy S6 Edge+, which was known also as "Project Zen," will be a larger version of the Galaxy S6 Edge. The handset was reported to feature a dual-edge display that is similar to the Galaxy Note 5. The Samsung Galaxy Edge+ will be available in different colors and will be powered by Exynos 7420 processor instead of Qualcomm Snapdragon 808. The handset comes with a 32 GB internal storage, a 16 MP rear camera with Optical image stabilization, a 5 MP front facing camera and a 3000mAh battery.
