Dashlane Supports Fingerprint Unlocking on Select Samsung Devices

Dashlane, a password management app, now supports fingerprint scanning to unlock Samsung devices. This feature promotes easier and quick access to the internet and other applications.

Users of Samsung Galaxy S5, S6, S6 Edge, Note 4, and Note Edge will be able to enjoy Dashlane's added password protection feature. Installation is very easy, reports PC World, as Samsung users would only need to download the latest Dashlane version from the Play Store and follow the on-screen instructions.

Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge users will reportedly have an easier experience with Dashlane, given that these devices would only require users to place their fingers on the scanner. However, users of Note 4 and similar Samsung devices may find the use of the biometric scanner a bit of a hassle, The PC World report also shared a quick test the site conducted wherein it took three attempts for the fingerprint to be recognized. These Samsung models required a sliding motion of the finger over the scanner, as opposed to S6 or S6 Edge units where the finger is simply placed on the scanner.

It seems that Dashlane is also planning other biometric security innovations as stated in the company's blog post. The company wrote that fingerprint scanning for Samsung and Apple's Touch ID are latest integrations with other technologies. These projects are aimed to "make identity simple and secure everywhere." The statement also mentions Dashlane reportedly having more features to offer and that the company will soon share details about it.

This statement could mean that future Dashlane integration plans, states Android Headlines, may include enhancements involving facial recognition and retina scanners as part of biometric security. That may take some time, given that the two technologies have yet to make it as mainstream security features.

For now, Dashlane's Android M version includes added security for Samsung devices and a faster method to authorize site log-ins via fingerprint scanning. The password management app also comes with an autofill capability to fill out credit card details on online forms. This is partnered with security features to ensure safe online transactions and prevent security breach.
