Hollywood legend Victor Schertzinger's grand Loz Feliz Estate has been listed for sale and reportedly will need a few touch ups and home repairs.
Schertzinger was a famous violinist, composer and director during Hollywood's golden years. L.A. Curbed reported that according to the Los Feliz Improvement Association's historical survey, the expansive Loz Feliz property was designed by architect Mark Roy Daniel who was instrumental in planning Bel Air's lay-out. The architect also previously served as a U.S. National Parks superintendent.
The Mediterranean style estate was built in 1921 and boasts of a Spanish style home that has four bedrooms and five baths. The 1.02-acre lot is located between Cromwell Avenue and Los Feliz Boulevard and reportedly needs "TLC", as stated on the property listing. The estate also features a Morgan Walls & Clements-designed guesthouse with one bedroom, a lute-shaped swimming pool, lighted tennis court and a five-car garage. There is also an outdoor cabana with its own kitchenette, covered patio and an outdoor fireplace.
The 93 year old property also has a basement, wine cellar, a den and a family room. Lush greenery and trees surrounds the classic home. It is also conveniently located near Griffith Park, fine dining restaurants and the Greek Theater. The listing also mentioned that the property is a "great opportunity" for builders and investors.
In 2005, Schertzinger's former home was sold for $3.327 million. Today, the listed price for the property is $6.25 million.
Victor Schertzinger was best known for his composition "I Remember You." The accomplished musician was the first artist to compose an original score for a movie, states L.A. Curbed. Schertzinger also directed silent movies during the golden era of Hollywood films. He then moved on to compose classic hits such as "Tangerine" and "I Don't Cry Anymore."
The Hollywood legend passed away on October 26, 1941. He was 53.
