'The Vampire Diaries' News, Update: Cast Members Hint Nina Dobrev's Possible Comeback

With the open-ended exit of Nina Dobrev's character, Elena, in the hit TV Series "The Vampire Diaries", speculations of her coming back for the seventh season are growing stronger; and those speculations are intensified as casts of the show hint the possibility of the character's resurrection during a panel interview at the Comic-con last weekend, masterherald.com reports.

The TVD costars Ian Somerhalder, Kat Graham, Candice Accola, Paul Wesley, and Michael Malarkey were present during the event and they weren't really holding back on sharing what they think will happen to Dobrev's character. Is Elena going back to Mystic Falls?

"She's still there, dude. She's in a casket. She's having a nap," Ian, Dobrev's former boyfriend tells MTV last Saturday. Paul seconded by saying that characters in the show, just like Jesus, "die and come back."

But on a more serious take on the matter, Candice AKA the other half of steroline, says that how characters end and the mystery of whether they come back is the beauty of the show.

"I think that's what's fun about this series," she said. "You never know when characters are going to leave, you never know when they're going to come back. That's been a constant for six seasons, now. So the fact that, for such a big departure, that it is left open-ended, is really true to the show." She suggests that Nina's come back to reprise her role as Elena Gilbert is definitely a possibility on the horizon.

But for Michael, he is almost a hundred percent sold that season 6 was not Nina's last. "The way it's been done, she's very much a presence in season seven," he said. And should Elena rise from her mysterious slumber, fans can assume the apparent downfall of Ian's character.

"It's the old f-king Damon... sexy volatile fun dangerous," Ian said during the panel, Hollywood Life reports. "All that sh-t you guys fell in love with, I'm bringing it back." According to the show's creator, Julie Pelc, the coming season still have "a really intense core of romance... Damon has put the love of his life away."
