Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence reunites with Bradley Cooper in the comedy-drama film "Joy" that's been touted as a major awards contender in Oscars this year. Director David O Russel reunited Lawrence and Cooper, as shown in the first trailer of the upcoming movie after their period drama "Serena" that have landed with a damp thud, reports The Guardian.
In "Joy," Lawrence plays Joy Mangeno, a single mother of three who becomes a successful businesswoman after inventing the Miracle Mop. Cooper, on the other hand, stars as an executive at the Home Shopping Network who helps give her product its much-needed boost. Also included in the cast are Robert De Niro, Isabella Rossellini and Virginia Madsen, according to a separate report of Master Herald.
"It's set [in] the 80s and 90s, but I'm going to take a different approach musically than I've ever taken before," Russell told The Playlist last year. "I aspire to make an unexpected movie, both for myself and for Jennifer. It's about a woman ... what's inside her."
Given Russell's track record, "Joy" is expected to be nominated for multiple Oscars. It will be released on December 25 in the U.S. and January 1 in the U.K.
Russel also brought the Lawrence and Cooper together in "Silver Linings Playbook" and "American Hustle." It was in Russell's "Silver Linings Playbook" that Lawrence got her Best Actress Oscar award in 2013. She was also nominated Best Supporting Actress for her role in "American Hustle" in 2014.
Cooper, on the other hand, was nominated Best Actor for his role in "Silver Linings Playbook." He also got another nomination for Best supporting Actor for "American Hustle," according to his profile in IMDb.com.
