‘Dark Souls 2’ Cheats: Game Bans Players Who Accept And Use Hacked Items

In "Dark Souls 2," players who reportedly accepted and used hacked items were banned in playing a brutally difficult game. The hacking problem has remained an issue until today and many players have now learned to reject any items offered by other gamers, especially those they don't know, to avoid being banned from the game. Apparently, there are players who send hacking items to another gamer for the sole purpose of destroying other's capacity to further play the game, iDigitalTimes reported.

The report pointed out that these hacking problems have affected the "Dark Souls 2" players in PC platform and not on the consoles. In "Dark Souls 2," gamers who equip items with stats that exceed the normal level that the game allows via an upgrade are automatically banned. The "softban," as iDigitalTimes explained, is actually in the gamer's Steam account and the result could not be reversed even by starting a new character.

A softban, based on the same report, allows gamers to play online, but they can only join up with other banned players. Once a gamer has used a hacked item, the saved game will be automatically corrupted. In order to fix the problem, gamers will have to mess with the game files and eventually remove the hacked items without messing other items in the video game.

Kotaku reported that the hacking of items was a problem since "Dark Souls 2" was originally released in 2014. The problem reportedly has remained an issue with the updated "Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin." Bandai Namco has issued a statement when this problem has surfaced after "Dark Souls 2" was released last year.

"It has come to our attention that some players may be receiving items/weapons/equipment from players that are hacking/modding and that the items dropped could be modified/hacked versions of a weapon/item/equipment that could potentially cause the 'Dark Souls 2' server team to flag your account as violating the EULA (it turns out that the Dark Souls II server team is not placing restrictions/limitations due to such hacked/modded items, but will be monitoring any accounts found in possession of such items more closely for any other further violations of the EULA). Our recommendation would be to avoid picking up any items that other players drop for you unless you know/trust the person dropping them (or to remove any such items from your inventory, or simply deleting the character if you are unable to remove/discard them by normal means)," said Bandai Namco as quoted in Kotaku report.

Bandai Namco, however, emphasized that those weapons or any items that have not been picked up and added in the gamer's inventory will not be flagged down by the "Dark Souls 2" server as violation of EULA as the items will disappear over time.
