India has never seen this coming, as the Ancient Warrior movie sky-rocketed box-office in India and overseas on its first day, July 10, 2015. "Baahubali: The Beginning" earned a whooping $33.8 million in its fifth day, figures according to an article by Variety.
It made a lot of noise this week even competing with foreign movies with $4.4 million over the weekend in the US. It has also earned $17000 per screen average and second to Minions which has $27000.
According to Quartz India, It also beat Bollywood entries in India ranking fourth in the Top 10 listing beating "Chennai Express," "Kick," "Bang Bang."
A special International cut version of "Baahubali" will be edited by Hollywood Editor, Vincent Tabaillon who is known for films like "Now You See Me" and "The Incredible Hulk." It would be edited by his team before it will be presented by the end of August to film festivals, sales agents, and distributors with a view to a wide international release.
A statement of the film's producers said "This version will differ from the original film, which was just released successfully in India and select cities across the world for the Indian diaspora," from The Hollywood Reporter.
"Baahubali: The Beginning" is the first of the two part saga by the blockbuster Indian film-maker SS Rajamouli. The story talks about two brothers fighting for an ancient kingdom. It was regarded as the most expensive movie production in the history of Indian Cinema which costs $40 million and even made it to the Guiness Book of World Records as the biggest poster in the world according to News Mobile. The poster measures up to 50000 square feet.
The film was initially released in four languages in India. The sequel of this film which is "Baahubali: The Conclusion" is scheduled for release in 2016.
