Avid fans of the "Angry Birds" mobile game has something to celebrate this week. This is because the popular video game will reportedly have a sequel titled "Angry Birds 2," as announced via a promotional poster. "Angry Birds 2" vows to be "bigger, badder, birdier," hinting that something big is about to unfold, a report from IGN said on Thursday.
The "Angry Birds 2," as reported by IGN, will attempt again to capture consumers' imagination and eventually improve Rovio's mobile video game. The mobile game has gained global popularity when it was launched in 2009, but apparently, the company has reported drop of profits of about 73 percent last year.
"With 3 billion game downloads, millions of fans across the globe, multiple mashups and spin-offs, collaborations with A-list celebrities and much more, we're really proud that 'Angry Birds' is the mother of all mobile game apps. And now we're proud to announce the mother of all sequels - 'Angry Birds 2'!" said Rovio in a press release posted on its website.
"Back in December 2009, when we were just a small games studio, we released our 52nd game featuring colorful birds, green pigs, a slingshot and a super catchy theme tune. Fast forward to 2015 and that game, 'Angry Birds,' has taken the world by storm," continued Rovio.
Gamespot reported that the company, however, has not announced that the "Angry Birds 2" will be released either in Android or iOS platforms, but it claimed that the soon-to-be-revealed mobile game will eventually be available to all application stores worldwide. It can be recalled that the original mobile game reportedly came first to iOS and Android as well as PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U, which were all part of the so-called the "Angry Birds" trilogy. The report added that Rovio is planning to release merchandise for the game and hinted that an "Angry Birds" movie will be launched in 2016.
