The official list of Emmy nominations is now out, but before the announcement was made, a few of Hollywood industry insiders listed down their dream nominations for the year.
Days before the 2015 Emmy nominations were announced, TVLine conducted a poll and gathered 19 industry insiders to list down the shows and performers that they think should be recognized. As an added challenge, TVLine instructed their panel to look outside their own tv or movie projects and avoid choosing co-workers. Some of the members of the distinguished panel includes "American Crime creator" John Ridley, Constance Wu from "Fresh Off the Boat," "Empire" executive producer Danny Strong, and Eden Sher from "The Middle."
The results of the TVLine poll are varied, but an emerging favorite is the comedy series "Transparent." Other shows that were mentioned includes "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," "The Americans," "Veep," "Masters of Sex," "The Knick," and "Getting On." Series such as "Amy Schumer," "Mad Men," "Silicon Valley," "House of Cards" and "Orange is the New Black" made it to the dream nomination list.
For performers, one of the TVLine panelists mentioned actress Gaby Hoffman for her awesome performance on the comedy series "Transparent." Another cited that it's time for Tatiana Maslany from "Orphan Black" to get an Emmy nomination. Ben Mendelsohn's performance in "Bloodline" was also highly appreciated. Other hopeful nods includes Freddie Highmore and Vera Farmiga from "Bates Motel," "Penny Dreadful" star Eva Green, Melanie Lynskey from "Togetherness," Bill Murray from "Olive Kitteridge" and Jonathan Pryce from "Game of Thrones."
Which of these dream nominations made it to the official list? Based on the list compiled by Variety, of the shows mentioned above, the following were included in the Outstanding TV Series category: "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," "Transparent," "Mad Men," "Veep," "Silicon Valley," "House of Cards" and "Orange is the New Black."
Meanwhile, from the list of dream performer nominations listed above, Variety's roster confirmed that only Tatiana Maslany and Ben Mendelsohn were given Emmy nods. Most of the panel's favorite stars, unfortunately, did not make it to the final cut.
The 2015 Emmy Awards will be held on September 20 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
