Leonardo Di Caprio is set to appear in the upcoming film "'The Revenant." The movie is directed by Academy Award Winner Alejandro González Iñárritu. According to Time, the movie was co-written by Iñárritu and Mark L. Smith. It is based on the 2003 novel with the same title and was written by Michael Punke.
Movie Pilot reveales that Di Caprio plays the role of Hugh Glass who is an explorer during the early days in America. When he gets separated from his crew after getting attacked by a bear, he fights for his life against the deadly elements of the wildlife. He sets on a mission for revenge on those people who left him for dead.
Iñárritu is working again with Birdman's cinematographer, Emmanuel Lubezki, in the movie and there are rumors circulating that the award-winning director decided to shoot the daytime scenes using only natural light.
The official synopsis of the film reveals that the story is inspired by true events and it will reportedly give the audience a cinematic experience of a man's will to survive as well as his extraordinary will power. To be able to survive, Glass will have to face numerous trials and will have to cope with his unimaginable grief since he was betrayed by his confidant, John Fitzgerald, played by Tom Hardy. Other cast members also include Domnhall Gleeson and Will Poulter.
According to Variety, the trailer may be light in dialogue but is heavy in action. The trailer shows Glass fighting a bear and trying to survive in the vicious winter, traveling more than 200 miles to find his way back home.
It was also rumored that this movie might give DiCaprio his first Oscar win after failing to bag the price numerous times after being nominated for his movies like "Inception."
"The Revenant" is slated for limited release on Christmas Day, December 25, 2015. It will be available for wide release by January 8, 2016.
