David Cassidy's net worth is not improving. After his long-standing battle with alcoholism and divorce with his wife Sue Shifrin, "The Partridge Family" star is set to auction his 7,000-square-foot Florida home on September 9.
With the purpose of putting an order to his finances, the 1970s teen idol will soon have to give up his property that he shared with his soon-to-be ex-wife, Shriffin. The order was given by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in South Florida early this year.
Before Cassidy's property is put into auction, the former teen idol tried to sell it for $4.5 million in 2013. However, after failure to find a buyer, the property's price drastically went down until it was finally offered for $2,950,000, according to Yahoo.
The said home is a 7,000-square-foot property built with five rooms and seven baths, family room, swimming pool and library/office. It has access to the ocean as it is situated on a canal with its own dock and boatlift.
It also has a massive master suite that is fully carpeted and decorated with luxurious furnishings. A master bath features personalized stone and marbled shower and bath tub.
Cassidy's mansion is fully installed with custom-made wooden flooring. It also has its own spa and a gym.
The Fort Lauderdale estate was purchased by Cassidy and his third wife, Shifrin, for $1.1 million in 2001. After five years, they made significant overhaul in the house and put it on the market in 2013.
According to Daily Mail, "The Partridge Family" star's alcoholism and involvement in DUI cases in the past has had significant effects on Cassidy's net worth. It has also taken a toll on the actor's marriage, which eventually led to Shifrin filing a divorce in February 2014.
In 2008, the "I Think I Love You" singer admitted his struggle with alcoholism in public. He submitted himself to rehab and filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy, where he reported expenses of $27,000 and an income of $12,500 monthly. He also has a total of $2 million credit.
Cassidy enjoyed full stardom in the 1970s after playing Keith Partridge in the musical sitcom "The Partridge Family." His net worth skyrocketed after his exposure on the television. He was launched as a solo singer and had hit songs such as "I Think I Love You." He toured around the world and became immensely popular.
Cassidy married thrice. He tied the knot with actress Kay Lenz in 1977 and a South African sportswoman Meryl Tanz in 1984. His third wife is Sue Shifrin, whom she married in 1991. They have one son, Beau Cassidy. He also has a daughter, actress Katie Cassidy, from a relationship he had with Sherry Benedon.
Cassidy's net worth is estimated at $5 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. Will the former teen idol still be able to get back on the right track?
