The human body is indeed a ball of working miracles; unconsciously, it constantly regulates our breathing, keeps our eyes from drying out, sends blood from head to toe, responds to social cues, and makes sure we're getting enough oxygen.
But do you know your body well enough? Here are some tests you can try at home with friends to check few of the hundreds of processes that takes place in the body, Buzz Feed does the experiment:
Find your dominant eye
Apparently, even our eyes have a competition going. You can actually test your eye to find which one is more dominant by doing these:
- Extend your arms and make a diamond hole with your hands.
- Look at an image through the hole with both eyes open.
- Now, close one eye and try to see the image. You should see the image with the dominant eye.
- With the other (non-dominant) eye, chances are you will only see your hand.
How your voice sounds to others
Ever got freaked out by listening to your voice on a video or a recording? Because yes, it's weird how you don't sound the way you hear you sound. Learn how your voice sounds to others by doing these:
- Say "Hey"; that's how you think you sound.
- Now, block the sound coming from your moth by placing a cardboard between your ears and your jaw like elephant ears and say "Hey".
- Yes, that's how others hear your voice.
How much testosterone were you exposed to in the womb
Not sure how this test will improve our lives but, for the heck of it, let's find out how testosterone we were exposed to in the womb!
- Place your hand flat down a surface.
- See how your ring finger aligns with your pointing finger.
- The longer your ring finger is in comparison to your pointer, the more testosterone.
Learn how your left brain forces your right side to move
Let's see if you can do this:
- While sitting, cross your legs, right leg over the left.
- Now, make clockwise circular motions with your right foot.
- As you do that, draw number 6 in the air with your right hand.
- Do that simultaneously and see what happens to your right foot.
- See?
Do you pick up on social cues?
Did you yawn after seeing the person in front of you yawn? Do you find yourself smiling when you hear someone laughing? Hearing laughter stimulates your facial muscles to smile.
How finely tuned is your 6th sense?
Yes, we all have a 6th sense. Do you want to know if yours is working well?
- With your eyes closed, open your arms and draw both your right and left pointing fingers to your nose.
- Did you hit your nose? Or your other finger pointed your mouth instead?
