Universal Pictures is releasing a new film starring Liam Hemsworth and Kate Winslet. "The Dressmaker" is directed by Australian director Jocelyn Moorhouse and is set to be released later this year.
According to Venture Capital Post, the movie is based on Rosalie Ham's bestselling 2000 novel of the same title. The story revolves around the character of Kate Winslet named Myrtle "Tilly" Dunnag, who returns to her small town in Australia after many years living in Paris to be able to take care of her mother.
The director describes the film as a tale of love and revenge and also the 1950s couture. Film producer Sue Maslin said that Moorhouse is the perfect director for the film with its "complex characters and indelible Australian setting."
With Tilly's remarkable seamstress skills, she transforms the townspeople. According to Variety, she is looking for revenge for the person who spread the rumors that she murdered a young boy when she was still 10 years old.
As she searches for the culprit who damaged her reputation, she takes care of her mother who is played by Judy Davis and unexpectedly falls in love with a young man named Teddy, played by Liam Hemsworth.
E Online reported that the recent trailer that was released features hot and intimate scenes between Hemsworth and Winslet. One of the scenes in the trailer features the actor shirtless and flaunting his muscles and six-pack abs. The trailer also features a steamy kiss between the duo.
Aside from Winslet and Hemsworth, the movie also stars Hugo Weaving, Caroline Goodall, Shane Bourne, Kerry Fox, Rebecca Gibney, Sacha Horler, Shane Jacobson, Alison Whyte, Genevieve Lemon and Sarah Snook. Universal Pictures is said to release the film in Australia and New Zealand on October 22; however, there is still no specific date for its U.S. premiere.
