‘Street Fighter 5’: New DLC Allows Players to Earn New Characters or Get Them for Free

Capcom has recently announced that avid players of "Street Fighter 5" will able to access all future contents and earn new characters digitally, as these will be offered in-game or can be obtained with no cost at all. The game studio stated that the earlier version of the "Street Fighter 5" will be the last game to be purchased using a single disc, an IGN report stated on Saturday.

In the said IGN article, Capcom has reportedly outlined its post-launch support plan for the "Street Fighter 5" video game. It noted that players will not be required to purchase a new version of the video game to keep up with the current meta and player base as all future contents will be free.

A report from Kotaku said that Capcom will release a single disc, which contains 16 characters via regular digital updates. Out of 16 characters, four are reportedly brand new characters. The report stressed that these digital updates -- new characters, new gaming modes, and other contents related to gameplay -- can actually be earned by playing the video game.

Morever, Kotaku reported that Capcom wants the "Street Fighter" series to be an "ever-evolving service." In playing the video game, players will also be able to acquire the so-called "Fight Money" by winning the game and defeating the opponent. Fight Money, as Kotaku said, can be used to buy various gameplay-related contents.

Gamespot also reported that players will use two kinds of currencies in the game: Fight Money and Zenny. The report explained that Zenny can be purchased using real-world money to unlock new contents in the video game.

"Street Fighter 5" will be available to PS4 and PC platforms next spring. The PS4 beta is reportedly set to kick off on July 23 until July 28, which will be followed by a PS4 and PC beta this fall.
