'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' Cast, News: Thousands of Young Girls Auditioned for Harry Potter Spin-Off

Twenty thousand girls tried their chances to be the next J.K. Rowling movie star as the Harry Potter spin off movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them held its auditions last Saturday.

The major role of Modesty, a haunted young girl, was the reason the auditions were held. The queue started at 3 am at the Excel Center and the line went from thousands to tens of thousands in just a matter of hours. Warner Bros aims to find the perfect girl who is between the ages of eight and twelve to star together with Eddie Redmayne who will play as Newt Scamander in the movie.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was taken from the textbook title used by the Hogwarts students. The book was initially released in 2001 and was announced to be a film two years ago. The geo setting is in NYC and the time setting is around 70 years before Harry Potter. Despite being a Harry Potter spin off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was said to be neither a sequel nor a prequel of the Rowling hit series.

Whoever the lucky girl who gets the part is, she will start to film the role in the next month. The movie will then be released next year with two more sequels to be expected afterwards.

This movie holds a big level of expectation from HP fans. Considering how much of a big hit Harry Potter was, and how many people try to get a major part in this spin off, we can definitely assume that this movie ought to be as big if not bigger than Harry Potter. Everyone is definitely excited to see new faces and new child actors and watch them grow up from sequel to sequel. Whether the spin off will end up as good as expected, let's all wait and see.
