John Smoltz House: Take a Tour Inside Atlanta Braves Baseball Star’s Atlanta Home

Baseball legend John Smoltz of Atlanta Braves is set to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on July 26, and the only pitcher in big league history with at least 200 victories and 150 saves has recently provided fans a glimpse of his personal life through a house tour of his Atlanta home.

In a YouTube video, the Atlanta Braves pitcher talked about his home in Atlanta and his family. He shared that Ted Simmons gave him good advice on choosing a home: "Don't live where you play. Choose to live where you want to live because where you play can vary from time to time."

According to Smoltz, his favorite spot in his Atlanta house is the home theater, which features huge and plush seats and his baseball bats incorporated in the door's design as handle. Various baseballs are also fitted in the door as accent. "If I'm not on a tractor or lawnmower, I like being in the theater," Smoltz said. He also shared in the video that it's almost always impossible for him not to fall asleep in the theater.

Another ideal spot in the property for Smoltz is his spacious yard, which is home to a nine-tee golf course, his "own little slice of Augusta National," according to Curbed, and a basketball court. Curbed further reports that the home has a "subdued living room," where views of the yard can be enjoyed through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Aside from the Atlanta house, Smoltz also previously owned a reportedly much bigger Alpharetta mansion that measures 18,000 square feet. The property was listed in the market for 7.2 million in 2012.
