'Ant-Man' Movie News: Director Teases Sequel

The weekend opening for Marvel's latest movie, "Ant-Man," may have fallen short of its box office goal, but Director Peyton Reed revealed that the movie may possibly have a sequel.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the movie earned $58 million over the weekend, which is low compared to Marvel's other hit films like "Thor" and "Captain America: The First Avenger." Despite this, Director Reed said in his interview with them that he is hopeful that Marvel will make a sequel for the film that will be added to the roster of upcoming projects the company announced last year.

He also hopes that the management will have some serious talks with them in the future. He reportedly said that if Marvel would allow it, they would start working on it as soon as possible.

The director added that he would be more than happy to direct the second "Ant-Man" film. He said that by the end of the film, there is still so much story that needs to be told about Scott Lang's alter ego. Reed shared that "there's clearly some stuff that's set up at the end of our movie, there's some questions asked of these characters that hopefully we could provide the answers to."

Despite having low sales during the weekend, reports revealed that "Ant-Man" still topped the box office with $58 million, though it fell short of the predicted $60 to $65 million sales. It is reportedly the weakest opening for Marvel Studios since it released "The Incredible Hulk" which starred Edward Norton back in 2008. The movie debuted with only $55 million on its weekend premiere.

Despite the low box office ratings, "Ant-Man" still continued Marvel's winning streak as it is the 12th consecutive opening at number 1. The movie also received positive reviews from audiences and was given an "A" rating, which is the same grade that was given to "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Iron Man" on their opening weekend.
