The Calleguas Municipal Water District and "Magnun PI" star Tom Selleck finally reached an agreement over the actor's alleged illegal use of the district's hydrant water for his Hidden Valley ranch. The star will be paying $21,685.55 as settlement.
As previously reported, Tom Selleck was accused of illegally using water collected from a hydrant at the Calleguas district. A private investigator hired by the Calleguas Municipal Water District proved that the actor had truckloads of water delivered to his 60 acre avocado farm and ranch. Apparently, the water was pumped from a public hydrant located in Thousand Oaks within the Calleguas district. The investigator's report also contained the number of deliveries made to Selleck's Hidden Valley property over a span of two years.
The violation was filed at the Ventura County Superior Court and on Wednesday, July 15, the "Blue Bloods" star agreed to stop transporting water from within the Calleguas boundaries and reimburse the district with the cost of hiring the private investigator, reports Los Angeles Times. The settlement was also accepted by the Calleguas Municipal Water District.
The LA Times report further mentioned Selleck reportedly claiming he did not receive any of the district's notifications about the issue. Selleck's lawyer issued a statement after the two parties have agreed on a court settlement. The statement also indicates that the actor "previously paid for all the water that he utilized, which the Calleguas Municipal Water District acknowledged had not been stolen."
Calleguas' water resources manager, Eric Bergh, denied the claims stating the several cease-and-desists letters were sent to the actor's two addresses which includes the Hidden Valley ranch, the LA Times reported. Meanwhile, a spokesperson from Selleck's side clarified that the actor is not denying the water district's attempts to contact the star. It seems that nobody at Selleck's ranch signed for the receipt of the cease-and-desist letters. The actor also reportedly did not personally sign for any of the notices. The spokesperson added that Selleck had no idea that the district had issued the letters.
Tom Selleck and wife Jillie Mack-Selleck had called the Hidden Valley ranch their home since 1980s. The actor is best known for his role in the TV series "Magnun PI." Selleck has starred in several television and movie projects for more than 3 decades, earning a net worth of $25 million, states Celebrity Net Worth.
Selleck currently stars as Police Commissioner Frank Reagan in the CBS series, "Blue Bloods."
