'The Flash' Season 2 Release Date & Spoilers: Will The Superhero's New Costume Give Him Extra Powers?

DC superhero The Flash returns on October 7 with a brand new suit. According to ET Online, the revamped look shows no drastic changes, though it reportedly still doesn't prevent fans from speculating on what the new suit could mean for Barry Allen, played by actor Grant Gustin.

The new suit's most noticeable change is the emblem. The Flash's lightning bolt has been set on a white background instead of red that was on the previous suit.

The official image from "The Flash" shows Barry in the new suit with a darkened hue and a dejected posture, fueling speculation that he will be facing tougher times in the upcoming season, especially that there will be a "new big bad Zoom." Fans reportedly want to know if the new suit would enable Barry to fight his enemy alone.

Gustin supposedly hinted in the San Diego Comic-Con that Season 2 of "The Flash" will find "Barry dealing with some extra tension. He knows that Eddie (Rick Cosnett) was ultimately the hero that stopped Wells (Tom Cavanagh) in the finale and saved everybody. We find him struggling with his role as a hero. He's a lone wolf -- working alone," Gustin explained. Gustin also added that "it's going to get more confusing this season for sure."

In a report by Latino Review, it said that the new costume was hardly a surprise because the white emblem was already hinted at in the first season during some alternate version of Barry Allen fighting Reverse Flash. This, however, leads to the question of whether or not the Barry Allen in Season 1 is the same as the one in Season 2, the report said.

The upcoming season of "The Flash" will also feature additional cast members: Jay Garrick (Masters of Sex's Teddy Sears) and Patty Spivot (The Messengers' Shantel van Santen), Detective Joe West's new partner and Barry's possible love interest. "The Flash" Season 2 will premiere on October 6 at 8 p.m.
