Movie fans and Marvel Comics fanatics have been wondering which role the British actor, Martin Freeman, will play in the upcoming movie "Captain America: Civil War." And now, Freeman's recent interview may have provided fans with an idea about his secret character's identity in the movie.
In an interview with the Italian site BadTaste. It, the "Hobbit" star dropped a hint that his "Captain America: Civil War" role is part of the American government, reports Hollywood Reporter. Freeman adds that his character's responsibility is to coordinate with superheroes and specific "agencies that help to tame the superheroes' power." The actor mentioned that people will not be able to identify which side the character is fighting for. It appears that this American government employee is "playing one game when actually he's playing another."
The Hollywood Reporter article also mentioned Freeman seemingly enjoying his role for "Captain America: Civil War." The actor revealed that this role is the type of character he likes to play. Freeman adds, "It's ambiguous... because you don't know whether he's good or bad. I like that area that isn't black or white. I like the grays, because I think there's just more fun to be had in not playing one obvious line."
Meanwhile, given Freeman's latest character description, fans are speculating that the actor's "Captain America: Civil War" persona is Henry Peter Gyrich, states Cinema Blend. Gyrich was first introduced in Marvel Comics in 1977 as a special government liason to the Avengers. The "Fargo" actor is reportedly a perfect match for that character. The fans were also thinking it will be easy to transform Freeman's appearance to make the actor look more like the comic book version of Gyrich.
Over the past months, the "Captain America: Civil War" production has been filming in Atlanta. The third instalment to the "Captain America" movie franchise stars Chris Evan, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Martin Freeman and more. The movie is scheduled for a May 6, 2016 release.
