Supergirl’ TV Show Trailer: Teaser Shows Melissa Benoist's Kara Despising Her Superhero Name

"Supergirl" doesn't seem to be the perfect name for the "mystery flying woman," as far as Kara, Melissa Benoist's character in the upcoming TV series, is concerned. According to ET Online, CBS has released its brand-new teaser for the upcoming television show, which is scheduled to air in October.

In the teaser, Kara, played by Melissa Benoist, barged into her boss's office, reacting violently to her nickname as National City's newest savior. In the video, Supergirl made headlines following a daring rescue, but Kara is not happy about her alter ego's new name.

"Supergirl?! We can't name her that!" Kara exclaims. Her media giant boss Cat Grant, played by Calista Flockhart, countered Kat's objection.

"What do you think is so bad about girl? I'm a girl and your boss and powerful and rich and hot and smart. So if you perceive Supergirl as anything less than excellent, isn't the real problem ... you?" Cat says.

The new teaser follows the "Supergirl" promo that showcases Kara's powerful abilities and her efforts to learn how to use them to become a hero. In a report from Digital Trends, it says that "Supergirl" follows Kara's quest to join the ranks of her famous cousin and the world's other superheroes after years of hiding her abilities.

Glee actress Benoist will be joined by Mehcad Brooks as James "Jimmy" Olsen, Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Chyler Leigh as Alexandra "Alex" Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winslow "Winn" Schott, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, and Peter Facinelli as Maxwell Lord.

"Supergirl" television series was written by "No Ordinary Family" writer Ali Adler and "Arrow" and "The Flash" writer Greg Berlanti. The upcoming TV series received rave reviews from fans after an early screening at Comic-Con International in San Diego earlier this month, the report said.

"Supergirl" will premiere Monday, October 26, at 8:30 p.m. ET on CBS. It will then move to a regular slot at 8:00 p.m. ET on Mondays.
