'GTA 5' PC Update: Rockstar Released New Patch To Fix Low FPS Issue

A new patch for the PC version of "Grand Theft Auto 5" (GTA 5) was released Tuesday, July 21, by Rockstar Games to fix low frame rate issues.

Rockstar released the latest patch amidst low FPS (frames per second) complaints from gamers, reports VG24/7. Players noticed the drop in frame rate ever since the game developer released the highly anticipated DLC "GTA 5: GTA Online Ill-Gotten Gains Update: Part 2." Although the 91mb patch is set to address players' low frame rate concerns, it unfortunately affected single player mods.

Some of the single player mods may not be fully compatible with the new GTA 5 patch, states Gameranx, and advises players to download the updates once modders have updated their game mods. The "GTA 5" developer said, "We also received some reports linking decreased performance when using Story Mode mods to TU 1.28. As mentioned previously, we are not actively targeting players using mods in Story Mode, nor are we explicitly implementing protections against them in-game."

The developer also reminded gamers that unauthorized mods may result to the game behaving "in unexpected ways because they are not supported or tested, and players run them at their own risk."

In an "Asked & Answered" article published by Rockstar in May, the game developer explained why they are not supportive of game mods for "GTA," reports Gamepur. Rockstar explained then that their primary focus is protecting GTA against game modifications that could give players "an unfair advantage, disrupt gameplay, or cause griefing." The developer added, "It also bears mentioning that because game mods are by definition unauthorized, they may be broken by technical updates, cause instability, or affect your game in other unforeseen ways."

Earlier in July, Rockstar released the "GTA 5: GTA Online Ill-Gotten Gains Update: Part 2" across all platforms. The DLC introduced new cars, clothes, guns and additional content. Soon after its release, gamers of the PC version reported frame rate problems.

The latest "GTA 5" PC patch is now available for download via Steam.
