A moment of gratitude for the Indiana Pacers. The Indiana Pacers, who just traded their big man Roy Hibbert to the Los Angeles Lakers, will give tribute to Hoosiers by wearing Hickory jerseys to some of their games in the 2015-2016 NBA seasons as stated in a report by Fox News.
Indiana Pacers players will wear Hoosiers inspired uniforms to celebrate its 30th anniversary of the movie. Hoosiers is a 1986 sports film that was directed by David Anspaugh and written by Angelo Pizzo. After hearing the news, the writer of the movie Angelo Pizzo said that he wasn't sure what to expect as reported by Indy Star. The movie tells the story of the small-town Indiana high school basketball team who hopes and wins the state championship. The movie was actually based on Milan High School team who won the state championship in 1954. The Indiana Pacers who failed to make the NBA playoffs this year will surely use these tactics that will surely bring market trend in Indiana and eventually leads to a spike in apparel sales.
Indiana Pacers Point Guard George Hill has already posted in social media a picture of him wearing Hickory jersey to show off the new look saying that it's an honor for him and his team to wear the Hoosiers inspired uniforms.
Celtics great and NBA living legend and current Pacers President of Basketball Operations Larry Bird said that Hoosiers will surely bring and take NBA fans back to a special time and place. The movie was originally released to some and limited U.S audience in November 1986. After the movie was aired on the said date, it caught the attention of some movie fanatics that led to its full release in February of the next year. The movie also received two nominations in Academy Award later that year.
