Beijing Unveils Plans for World’s Largest Airport Terminal

A new infrastructure is yet to unfold in China's capital, Beijing as they are set to construct the world's largest airport which is set to open its first terminal on 2018 giving passengers a world class travelling experience. The airport is said to handle 45 million passengers the moment its construction would be completed with a whooping budget of $13 billion as reported by Travel+Leisure.

The airport would be designed by Zaha Hadid and her firm- a world renowned Iraqi-British architect, known for her neo futuristic designs and is the first woman recipient of the Pritzker Architecture Prize and Stirling Prize in 2010 and 2011.

Hadid's firm then made a statement regarding the new terminal:

"will be extremely user focused, efficient, adaptable, and sustainable,"

Innovating an infrastructure this huge would be a feat, and thousands of challenges set to arise but Hadid and her team is having a positive approach towards it completion.

Hadid posted a couple of videos on her YouTube channel giving the public a glimpse of their airport that is soon to rise. As can be seen on the video, the airport designed by Hadid gives the passengers seamlessly and harmoniously through the building in which the public spaces flow into each other in reflection of the harmony and balance between the Chinese landscape and culture. The airport terminal structure promises to be of a human scale despite its mass, with the help of its six curved spokes and a multi-layered civic space. Having a wide land area, the terminal will be focusing on wide open spaces will be made possible by the flowing roof design and lack of pillars as stated by HuffPost Travel.

The airport is set to open its new terminal by 2018 with a span of 700,000 square meters and is set to handle 45 million passengers. Beijing continually wows the world with their advanced infrastructures and technology.
