A man named Glenn Jasen knowingly had his home sold despite the fact that it lies on top of a sinkhole. He never mentioned the flaw to his buyers which is why he is now facing charges. The government calls this fraudulent act as a "scheme to defraud".
Jasen found a sink hole in his home and filed a claim with a property insurance company where he was paid thousands of dollars for settlement. However, instead of fixing the house, he moved to a different house down the street.
He later sold the house to an unsuspecting family. The sinkhole problem was never disclosed to the new owners, Kelly Magbee and Thomas Jaje. Jasen also rejected the truths when filling up real estate disclosure forms. He was firm to state that the house do not have problems with its structures.
Jasen could go to prison for as long as twenty years. Although he has plead guilty, he would also have to pay the victims. He would have to cover the home's buying price and all other expenses the family has taken care of.
Magbee and her family had no choice but to move out of the home. After the middle of the living room cracked down, the family say that they could not stay in the house. they say they couldn't even leave the animals in there.
However, Magbee is happy for the guilty plea. She says that this shall be the start of finally getting back all the money they have lost in moving in to that house. They are currently staying in another home as renters. Magbee also says thank you to the news coverage. She says that it really helped them in their fight to get justice for their fraudulent purchase. Without the news coverage, Magbee says they may still be trying to get people to at least look at what's going on.
