Despite earlier reports that Scott Foley won't be coming back for another season of "Scandal," it seems like he will be reprising his role as Jake Ballard after all in the upcoming Season 5 of the show.
According to Christian Today, Foley and lead actress Kerry Washington supposedly had a feud on set. Initial reports revealed that Washington was a "take-charge" type of person and Foley was just a seasoned veteran actor. These issues were said to be the reason that the actors' opinions sometimes rubbed each other the wrong way on the set. It was also speculated that Washington's connection with series creator Shonda Rhimes was also the reason Foley's character was stabbed in the Season 4 finale.
In Foley's interview after the Season 4 finale aired, the actor did not give any clues if his character will be back for Season 5. He said in an interview that the finale "opens a door to what I think will be a better season next season," and in the upcoming season, he added that "there are a lot of roles that are going to shift."
However, KDrama Stars reports that Foley's return to the show is confirmed, as the actor recently posted an enthusiastic message on his Twitter account after seeing the cast and crew again for the first table reading for Season 5 of "Scandal." His tweet reads, "I heard they're getting the band back together tomorrow. #ScandaI."
Joshua Malina, who plays David Rosen, also confirmed the return of Foley to the series by posting a photo on Instagram showing the cast members Jeff Perry, Bellamy Young, and Tony Goldwyn, including Foley, for the first table read of the show.
It was reportedly apparent that fans liked Foley's character and expressed support for the romance between Olivia Pope (Washington) and Jake Ballard. Hashtags like #TeamJake and #TeamOlake were posted on Twitter, clearly opposing the love team of Olivia Pope with Pres. Fitzgerald Grant, played by Tony Goldwyn.
"Scandal" Season 5 will be back on September 24.
