"Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No" will air this Wednesday night on Syfy and NBC Universal. It has been reported that it has dominated the online social media websites, much like the first two that came before it. The third installment shows the destruction of Washington DC with Ian Ziering and the rest of the crew turning up as the heroes yet again.
THE SHOW
"Sharknado 3: Oh Hello No" stars Ian Ziering sporting up a chainsaw as the lead character, Tara Reid as his pregnant wife, Cassie Scerbo, the bartender, and Frankie Muniz as Scerbo's assistant. Bo Derek as Reid's mother also joins the cast along with David Hasslehoff as the lead character's father.
According to Forbes, the latest and third installment of the "Sharknado" franchise aired this night on Syfy and NBC Universal. The production company believes that it dominated the ratings and social media websites were the primary reason for it all.
"Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No" production owners had a strategy in mind to give the fans the technology and entertaining content online that they would share and discuss leading up to being the primary movers of marketing the product itself.
To further their marketing strategy through online efforts, the production company also provided for tools such as the Go Shark Yourself app wherein the fans can insert themselves into scenes being attacked by sharks like that from the movie and share the said images with their friends. Syfy itself even collaborated with Phillips Hue to sync up the lightbulbs of the fans and turn it into a part of the screen, much like when a shark bites them, the bulb would turn red.
According to LA Times, apart from the success of the franchise, it also has its downfalls. It was reported that the third Sharknado installment was lazy and cold, even the destruction of Washington DC wasn't that much exciting either.
Although "Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No" has reached great heights with its success online, do you really think that the third installment is as good as the two before it? Do you think that it could have been improved? If so, to what parts of the franchise? Post your comments below.
