South Korea-based electronics giant Samsung has unveiled a new flagship tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2. The soon-to-be-released tablet reportedly boasts thin and light physical features which will compete head-to-head with its rival, Apple's iPad, a Yahoo report stated this week.
Yahoo said that Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 will be available in two different screen sizes: 9.7 inches and 8 inches, which are slightly different from the Samsung Galaxy Tab S. The company claims that the Galaxy Tab S2 is, by far, the thinnest and lightest metal tablet in the word with 5.6mm thickness and a weight of either 389g or 265g (depending on the screen size).
"The Galaxy Tab S2 is not only our thinnest and lightest tablet of its size ever, it also gives users quick, easy access to a wealth of superior viewing and productivity features. We believe the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is the most complete personal visual device designed for consumers to carry and use anywhere," JK Shin, CEO and President of IT & Mobile Division at Samsung Electronics, said in a press release.
According to Yahoo, both models will have a Super AMOLED display screen with a resolution of 2048x1536 and will be powered by Quad 1.9GHz and Quad 1.3GHz octacore processors, respectively. The report also indicated that users can upgrade the storage capacity of its microSD card up to 128 GB on both versions of the tablet.
"In addition, the Galaxy Tab S2 continually offers its advanced screen technology to display bright and natural content for a more comfortable visual experience. Adaptive Display intelligently adjusts gamma, saturation, and sharpness based on the application, the color temperature of the viewing environment and ambient lighting. Also, Reading Mode modifies the screen's brightness level to help users to read content for longer periods of time without straining their eyes," Shin claimed.
Indian Express also reports that Galaxy Tab S2 has various pre-loaded programs from Microsoft Office Solutions. Users will be able to enjoy its 100GB storage space on the cloud via OneDrive for two years for free.
The tablet is reportedly compatible with the Book Cover Keyboard and it also has a new touch-enabled Fingerprint Scanner. The device comes with built-in Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi and LTE version, with a storage space of 32 or 64GB with MicroSD up to 128GB. Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 will be available in retail stores in August this year.
