Moto G 3rd Gen 2015 Rumors: Specs And Photos Leaked Ahead Of Release Date

Leaked photos of Moto G 3rd Gen 2015 have been doing rounds in social networking websites. The alleged photos were reportedly leaked by a Swiss-based retailer and reveal the specifications and features of the Motorola's upcoming smartphone, a report from Tech Times said on Thursday.

According to a report from GSM Arena, the Swiss-based retailer was identified as Digitec. The report said that the revealed specifications of Motorola's upcoming Moto G include those of its predecessor.

Moto G (3rd Gen) reportedly has 2 GB of RAM and Cat.4 LTE support. The smartphone is rumored to be powered with a 1.7 GHz quad-core CPU, Adreno 405 GPU and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 610 SoC. The Moto G (3rd Gen) camera will be 13 megapixels while the screen size is expected to remain at five inches with 720p display.

The soon-to-be-released Moto G (3rd Gen) will have an internal storage capacity of 8 GB but can be expanded using a MicroSD card. The smartphone will have a 2,070 mAh battery, and Digitec claims the device will be sold for $245, which is more expensive than Motorola's previously released models.

As Tech Times noted, the recent rumor came a week ahead of Moto G (3rd Gen) launch date slated on July 28. Indian Express reports that Motorola will also release the 2015 Moto X along with the Moto G on the said date. It also pointed out that Moto G will be "waterproof," a feature that will set it apart from the mid-range phones available in the market today.

Motorola has become popular for its iconic RAZR flip phone, but eventually the company fell short of its target, which led to Google's buyout. Google reportedly acquired all of Motorola's assets for $12.5 billion in 2011. According to industry experts, Google's acquisition of Motorola is a strategic move for the company to compete head to head with Apple's iPhone and Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
