When the 2015 announcement trailer of "Mass Effect: Andromeda" was shown to global gamers during the E3 event in Los Angeles, it generated a lot of speculations. It was reported that the video game's western-style song was linked to another popular video game developed by CD Projekt Red, "The Witcher 3," a report from Design and Trends said on Thursday.
In the said article, it was emphasized that "Mass Effect Andromeda's" music titled "Ghost Riders In The Sky" "makes a lot of sense" for the game because players will be able to take control of the untested explorer in the video game. Players can actually lead an expedition to locate settlements in the alleged "untamed lands" of the Andromeda Galaxy. The report cited that the music pays homage to the U.S. cowboys who undertook an almost similar mission in the 1800s with the intention to colonize the "wild west."
According to the same website, the "Ghost Riders" has a retelling of the 1835 "Wild Hunt" story. The report indicated that the "Wild Hunt Story" was the actual inspiration of the video game "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt." A report from Gamesradar also revealed that the Wild Hunt story was actually a legend that is rooted in pre-Christian times. Although there are some changes that were introduced, the report said the basics remains the same: spectral, ghostly hunters appear in the sky with so much ruin, war and destruction that perfectly embodied the "Mass Effect" concept.
In a Gamerant article, a Twitter user named Lazarus posted a message pleading that the music in the Andromeda trailer be replaced: "Can you guys please remove the Andromeda trailer and replace it with proper music that fits the 'Mass Effect' universe?"
In response, Bioware Studio Director Yanick Roy responded via his Twitter account and said, "No, sorry, because there are very good reasons for that choice of song for the trailer that should become clear later on." Roy further claimed that the music in the sequel will be "much closer to what you would traditionally associate with "'Mass Effect' music."
"Mass Effect: Andromeda" will be released in 2016 and will be available for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
