'The Fosters' Season 3 Spoilers: Rita's Backstory To Take Center Stage; Stef & Lena Discovers A New Lead In The Hit-And-Run Case

The upcoming episode of "The Fosters" titled "Daughters" will feature the back story of Rita (Rosie O'Donnell) and how Callie's (Maia Mitchell) perception of her will change because of certain events. According to Cartermatt, "Daughters" will also introduce a new lead for Stef and Lena in the hit-and-run case that happened last season.

"When Rita's daughter shows up unexpectedly, Callie sees a different side of Rita and learns the reason behind her strained relationship. Stef discovers a new lead in the hit-and-run case. Brandon confronts his mom about the tensions in the house," the official synopsis for the episode read.

Meanwhile, Callie's future as an official Foster may be at risk after she previously developed feelings for Brandon (David Lambert) and then for A.J. (Tom Williamson). It is unclear whether or not she will be willing to set aside her real emotions for the sake of her future.

According to the International Business Times, fans of "The Fosters" who are still rooting for Callie and Brandon may be in for a treat this season. The publication revealed that the two will reunite sometime this season.

This may actually happen because in the previous episode entitled, "Faith, Hope, Love," A.J's brother Ty (Chris Warren) already expressed his plan to take the former away from his adoptive family. With this, there's a chance that Callie and A.J's romance will not really develop.

Series show creator Peter Paige previously told fans at the ATX Television Festival, "There is an episode in the middle of this season that is gonna blow Brallie shippers' minds. That's all I'm going to say. Don't worry, they have an undeniable connection and we're all well aware of it," he said.

"The Fosters" will go on a short hiatus next Monday and the next episode titled "Daughters" will air on August 3 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC Family.
