The upcoming season of "The Originals" will focus more on the Mikaelson's family issues. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Michael Narducci talked about the main focus of the upcoming third season of the hit The CW series and said that it will have a direct connection to the sire line of the Mikaelsons.
"We talked a lot about how the Mikaelsons have been around for 1,000 years and somewhere along the way, they probably turned a bunch of people into vampires. Those vampires know that if an Original dies, as we saw with Finn and we saw with Kol, an entire sire line would be wiped off. What perspective do those sired vampires have - all of them, the remaining three sire lines - what do they think about the continued existence of the Mikaelson family? That's the seed for season 3," he said.
Executive producer Julie Plec confirmed that Season 3 will also feature a lot of flashbacks that will focus on the early years of the members of the Mikaelson family. The showrunner specifically confirmed that the whole Original family will be featured 10 years after they were first turned.
Meanwhile, fans of Phoebe Tonkin who are concerned whether or not the actress will still be part of Season 3 may now rejoice. Plec confirmed that not only will Tonkin be back, she will also be seen in the flesh and no longer as a wolf.
In other news, one new cast member was recently confirmed to join "The Originals" next season. According to Christian Post, Jason Dohring will appear as a recurring guest star throughout Season 3. The actor will play the role of Detective Will Kinney. Another character named Van will be cast in the next couple of weeks.
"The Originals" Season 3 will premiere on The CW in the fall.
