Where Did Famous Classic Authors Like Edgar Allan Poe, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Jane Austen Lived Before?

Ever wondered where your favorite all-time classic authors wrote their masterpieces? From authors like Edgar Allan Poe, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Virginia Woolf, Jane Austen, and Emily Dickinson?

1. Edgar Allan Poe

Poe was an American author of poems, short stories. He was a distinguished writer and an annual award is given for mystery writers in America in his name, Poe was known for his works such as "Annabel Lee," "The Raven," "The Cask of Amontillado."

According to The New York Times, he wrote his famous poem "Annabel Lee" on a simple cottage house in Fordham, The Bronx in New York. It is now open as a museum known as "The Edgar Allan Poe Cottage" and wherein you can see some memorabilia of the distinguished author.

2. Francis Scott Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald is known as one of the greatest American authors of all time was best known for his novels like " The Great Gatsby" and "The Beautiful and Damned." He was featured as a character in a Woody Allen's movie in 2011, "The Midnight in Paris."

According to the Veranda, he lived on this NY Mediterranean styled-home with seven bedrooms and six bathrooms and also said that he wrote the famous "The Great Gatsby" in this house.

3. Jane Austen

Austen is an English writer of novels and romantic fiction. She was known for her novels such as "Sense and Sensibility, " Pride and Prejudice" and "Emma." Due to the garnered popularity of her novels, it even paved way for it to be released in films and an inspiration to some.

Austen's then home now turned a museum now known as Jane Austen's House Museum in Hampshire, England. Fans and History junkies can visit the said museum and they can also take part in some workshops held here.

4. Emily Dickinson

Dickinson is an American poet from the 1800s. She is most prolific on her works such as "Because I could not stop for Death," "I had no time to hate because," and "Going to him! Happy letter!"

Dickinson's then house in Amherst, Massachusetts is now owned by Amherst College and became Emily Dickinson Museum in 2003.

5. Virginia Woolf

Woolf is an English writer known for her famous works, " Mrs Dalloway," " A Room of One's Own," and "Orlando." She was even featured in the movie of Michael Cunningham in 1998, "The Hours."

Woolf and her husband Leonard lived in this retreat house in Sussex, England from 1919 to 1969, known as The Monk's House and is now open for the public to visit.
