Lyme disease is a rare bacterial illness which can usually be caused by tick bites. Strange as it may seem, this disease can cause havoc in one's system affecting the individual's joints, skin, nervous system, and even the heart and can cause the patient to be bed ridden for quite some time. It usually starts off with just a rash which can lead to chills, fever, swollen lymph nodes, and muscle pains. Though it can be treated with anti-biotic, it usually takes time for the patient to recover as per MedicineNet.com.
