Why do the sweetest engagement proposals sweep us off our feet all the time?
Last July 24, 2015, Kansas City Chiefs Rookie Andrew East asked her girlfriend, Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson to marry him at the Wrigley Field in Chicago.
Shawn Johnson and a fellow gymnast, Alicia Quinn was at the Cubs vs Phillies game to throw in the first pitch. Before Johnson left the mound, her boyfriend Andrew East knelt down and asked the 23-year-old Johnson to be his wife.
Aw...Those two lovebirds just swept the crowd's hearts as Johnson accepted the proposal with a nod and hugged him.
Johnson told US Weekly, "I'm the luckiest girl in the entire world! We're looking to tie the knot next spring/summer before Rio. And it was honestly a complete surprise."
She also said in the article that before the proposal took place, she noticed East acting weird, "He was acting so weird all day and was so quiet but I shrugged it off because I was so terrified of throwing the first pitch!"
And from NBC Chicago, Johnson tweeted this message regarding the proposal "Well I know it's not a secret.... But I experienced the greatest surprise a girl could ever ask for today.... The love of my life @andrewdeast asked me to be his forever AND I SAID YES!!!!!! #isaidyes #weregettingmarried #holycow."
And according to Entertainment Weekly, East also tweeted a sweet message regarding his proposal, "I'm a lucky guy to put a ring on this girls finger! I love you @shawnjohnson."
Johnson was known as part of USA's Gymnastics Team that won gold for the balance beam last 2008 but she retired in 2012 due to knee injuries. She also starred in "Dancing with the Stars: Season 8" and won as a winner.
Congratulations to the newly-engaged couple! We are hoping to see them walk the aisle soon.
