Earlier this month, casting rumors indicated that Rachel McAdams was offered a part in the film "Doctor Strange". Marvel did not deny nor confirm the casting news then. Now, the actress has confirmed that she was offered the part and is considering a role in the graphic novel turned movie.
Heroic Hollywood first reported the casting rumors on July 6, wherein the publication's Los Angeles sources revealed McAdams was offered to play the female lead in Marvel's "Doctor Strange." The "Notebook" actress was reported to star opposite actor Benedict Cumberbatch who will play the titular role.
In a previous interview with Den of Geek, McAdams said that she "did not have much to say about the project" at the time. The actress added, "There's not really anything to comment on. But, if there is, I'll let you know."
It seems that things have moved along with Marvel Studios from then, given that McAdams is reportedly considering a role in "Doctor Strange." She confirmed the news with the Los Angeles Times, but added that "it's still super-early days, and I don't know where that's gonna go, if it's gonna go anywhere at all." The "True Detective" star added that she's not a "comic book snob" and seems open to the idea of joining the roster of Hollywood stars who joined Marvel's Cinematic Universe.
In case McAdams will decide to join the "Doctor Strange" cast, this will add to the star's portfolio of diverse movie projects. The actress has already starred in different genres such as romance, comedy, thriller, political drama, action and adventure, and even a sports themed movie, reports Den of Geek. The star's latest film is "Southpaw," where she plays Maureen Hope, the wife of a light heavyweight champion boxer Billy Hope.
Marvel fans would have to wait for further casting news that will confirm McAdam's participation in the movie. "Doctor Strange" is slated to hit theaters on November 4, 2016.
