Over the course of the Tom Cruise's acting career, the actor very rarely participated in sequels for movie projects he has done in the past. So far, the "Mission Impossible" franchise is the only film series that Cruise has all starred in, and now he reveals why. Meanwhile, "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation" director Christopher McQuarrie also disclosed the scariest stunt ever filmed for the movie.
Cinema Blend was able to catch up with Cruise during the red event of the world premiere of "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation" Monday evening, July 27. When asked why the actor chose to play Ethan Hunt in all five installments of the film series, the "Top Gun" star replied that the project was something he was very interested in. Cruise added, "I really feel privileged to be able to have made five of these. Every time I go out, I learn more. Every time, you know, a Mission is a very unique movie because of the structure of the movies. To really work on these sequences, you have to work on layer upon layer. It really takes everyone's effort, from all departments. And [right now], I just love that challenge."
In the report, Cinema Blend noted that Cruise has managed to avoid doing multiple sequels of previous movie projects that the star participated in over the past 20 years. However, the "Mission Impossible" actor may have changed his mind and is thinking of revisiting characters he played in the past. The star has already agreed to do "Jack Reacher 2" and is reportedly considering a "Top Gun 2" project.
Meanwhile, "Rogue Nation" director Christopher McQuarrie told BBC during the "Mission Impossible" premiere held Monday, that one of the most "worrying moments" for the film was when Tom Cruise's character, Ethan Hunt, was hanging on the side of a flying plane. McQuarrie said that the scene was "nerve wracking" and the team was "nervous" about the stunt. Funnily enough, the director was not worried that Cruise will fall off the plane, McQuarrie was worried that "a bird was going to hit him."
"Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation" is one of the highly anticipated movies this summer season. The movie is slated for a July 31 release.
