Thomas Peterffy is the chief operating officer of Interactive Brokers who recently put his real estate located in Greenwich on sale for $65 million, which made the house the most expensive in the area.
Peterffy's home is located in Conyers farm which was first established in 1904. The farm was then developed into a community in 1980s and now currently housing 60 homes together with a tennis court, polo grounds and a swimming pool.Thomas' home has a total of 8,000 square feet with double- height entry hallway, two master suites and eight bedrooms. Also, it has two- story library and a kitchen with a solarium of glass ceiling. The house also boasts its three guest cottages, one of which has a two- story windows. One of the other guest cottage was originally a firehouse which served as the farm's own fire department during its farm years and the third cottage houses three bedroom which one is located upstairs.
Despite of its large lot and luxuriues amenities, Peterffy's house can still be considered homey compared to large mansions and manors being sold in the luxury market which made the prospect buyers seemed to be attracted to it. The house is also able to preserve its farm elements like the old cow barn where the present owner uses to hold charity events such as the 100-year-old Greenwich Riding and Trails Association.
Greenwich also made a buzz last year when Copper Beech Farm got sold for $120 million which made it the highest- priced home in America. It was later then subdued by Barry Rosentein of Jana Partners who paid $147 million for an East Hampton estate.
In the current listings, the second most expensive house for sale in the area is the Round Hill Road selling for $58 million. David Ogilvy of David Ogilvy & Associates currently hold the listing for Pterffy's home while Christie's International Estate is marketing it globally.
